MURFREESBORO — A woman suspected her new roommate was taking items from her, including jewelry, and according to police reports provided to The Daily News Journal, she was right.

Murfreesboro police Officer Jacob Fountain arrested Austin Dennison Holt, 35, of Indian Park Drive on June 22 and charged him with theft over $1,000.

Officer Austin Ernst was the first officer dispatched to the case, and he spoke with the victim, Hollie Phipps, on June 21, who “advised that since Mr. Holt moved in she has observed various items go missing,” Ernst said.

Ernst said Phipps reported that three gold rings, one diamond ring and one diamond pendant on a white gold chain were missing.

Phipps told the officer that when she confronted her roommate, he denied taking the items.

Holt agreed to meet Fountain at the police station, where he admitted to stealing and pawning the items, the report stated.

He was booked into RCSO and his bond was set at $7,000.
