CONROE – Conroe police are investigating an attempted jewelry store robbery that resulted in a shootout between suspects and store employees that left one of the suspects dead.

According to reports, four armed men entered Jeff’s Jewelry at 4890 W. Davis Street around 12:40 p.m. demanding jewelry, cash, and a purse from an elderly customer.

Conroe P.D. Lt. Dorcy McGinnis said as the robbers scattered through the store, an employee pulled a pistol.

Customers were also caught in the crossfire.

“There were some customers because they were demanding the purse from an elderly female,” McGinnis said. “Trying to take her purse from her.”
One of the suspects fired at him. Three employees returned fire, including owner Jeff Turner, who police say was armed with an assault rifle. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other suspects ran from the store and drove off in a rented, Chyslyer 300. They abandoned it about a mile from the store and fled on foot. They remain at large.

Reports of the robbery led to the lockdown of a nearby Conroe school and a church, according to reports.

Peet Middle School was on lockdown because of police activity.

A witness told KPRC2 that a First United Methodist Church was also on lockdown.

Shannon Harris runs a boutique next door to the jewelry store. She said it’s the second time gunmen have attempted to rob the store.

“Two years ago this happened, so they were prepared,” Harrris said. “We feel pretty protected, but we’re not really protected anymore. It’s kind of sad. Losing that small-town feel.”

In November 2014, employees arrived to find four men trying to smash their way through the front door with sledge hammers.

Those suspects left the scene after one of the employees brandished a shotgun.

Police have not released the identity of the man who was killed. They said they are following leads on the other three men who remain on the loose.

Kim Kardashian Robbed At Gunpoint: $11 Million Worth Of Jewelry Stolen — Report

http://hollywoodlife.com/2016/10/03/kim-kardashian-robbed-gunpoint-jewelry-stolen-paris/

Mon, October 3, 2016 8:12am EDT by Emily Longeretta

How horrible! Kim Kardashian, 35, is understandably shaken up after what she’s calling ‘the worst moment of my life.’ While she is — most importantly — safe, her belongings are not. Nearly $11 million worth of jewelry was taken from her hotel room, while she was locked and tied up in the bathroom. It’s unclear which of Kim’s jewelry was taken at this time.

Two masked men, dressed as police officers not only held Kim Kardashian at gunpoint and at her hotel in Paris, they also took a great deal of expensive jewelry, including a jewelry box worth $6.7 million and a ring worth $4.5 million, police said, according to Daily Mail. It has not yet been confirmed if the ring taken was in fact, one of the two that she has received from Kanye West. While Kim’s original Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring was worth around $1.6 million, the second diamond that Kanye gave his wife — a 20-carat emerald-cut ring — was reportedly worth around $4 million.

When leaving Paris the following morning, she was spotted on a private plane, not wearing a ring. In her last snapchat taken before the robbery, she was wearing it. The men who robbed her were part of a “highly organized” group, police confirmed, according to Us. They entered the apartment by reportedly tying up and gagging the concierge at the front desk and putting him inside a stairwell cupboard. TMZ is reporting there were five men total who entered the building, and they tied up a terrified Kim and put her in the bathroom of her room.

Of course, more details are still coming out of this story. Kanye was performing a concert in Queens at the time the news broke; he stopped the show in the middle of performing “Heartless,” and walked off stage. The venue later tweeted to inform fans he had a “family emergency.”

Our thoughts are with Kim at this time.

Police: Robbery of jewelry store at local mall well-planned

http://www.kmov.com/story/32320528/police-looking-for-3-suspects-in-hazelwood-jewelry-store-robbery

HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Hazelwood Police Department said they believe a Monday night robbery of a jewelry store at the St. Louis Outlet Mall was well-planned.

Surveillance video captured a trio of robbers running though the mall carrying backpacks and duffel bags. Two of the three men were wearing masks when they walked into Prime Jewelers around 8:30 p.m. and used crowbars to smash jewelry cases, police said.

An employee tried to stop the robbery, but one of the robbers sprayed the employee with mace. Two others, including a security guard whose two-way radio was stolen so he could not call for help, were also maced by the suspect, according to police.

According to investigators, one of the suspects broke the glass of the display cases while the other two followed behind grabbing the jewelry. Police say the whole incident lasted less than 90 seconds. Following the robbery, the suspects left in a black pick-up truck.

“They knew they had to go in the closest entrance and exit quickly, they had a vehicle outside ready to pick them up. They definitely knew what they were doing,” said Detective William Russ of the Hazelwood Police Department.

The dollar value of what was taken has not been determined, but the store owner told News 4 the suspects smashed a lot of cases and got away with a lot.
